Canadian Finally Free To Return From Cuba

Canadians looking to travel to Cuba might think twice about driving a car in the said country. This is after Cody LeCompte, of Norfolk County was detained in Cuba since April 29 this year. He was detained not because of some serious crimes he has committed but because of a vehicular accident.

Cody was the one driving the rental vehicle when it collided with a truck on a pockmarked road in rural Camaguey. A female Cuban friend, his mother, and uncle, as well as himself were rushed to the hospital after the accident but afterwards, he was detained because for Canadians involved in traffic accidents in Cuba, they are considered guilty until proven innocent. This means that Cody had to wait until the investigation was over.

This is not only common for Canadians to experience in Cuba. Other countries like Mexico, China, and Guatemala have been also known to do such things to foreigners. If you want to drive a car in Cuba on your vacation there though, keep in mind that you really have to be very careful.
